The ICC has announced its Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2024, but no Indian players are included. Sri Lankan cricketer Charith Asalanka has been named the captain of the team, recognizing his excellent performances during the year.

The team includes four players from Sri Lanka, three each from Pakistan and Afghanistan, and one from the West Indies. Here’s the full lineup:

India’s absence is mainly because they played very few ODIs in 2024—just three matches against Sri Lanka. Out of those, they lost two, and one ended in a tie. India focused more on the T20 World Cup, which they won, marking their second T20 World Cup victory.
Sri Lanka’s strong performance in ODIs is reflected in the team selection, with Charith Asalanka standing out by scoring 605 runs in 16 matches at an average of 50.2, including one century and four half-centuries.
