In a proud moment for Bihar, Sandeep Kumar, a young kabaddi player from Chamtha village in Samastipur district, has been bought by U Mumba for ₹49 lakh in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 auction.
Sandeep, who played a key role for Patna Pirates last season, impressed everyone with his powerful defense and sharp tackles. He scored over 100 points and helped Patna win several crucial matches. His strong performance has now earned him a place in one of the league’s top teams — and a big jump in price from ₹9 lakh last year to ₹49 lakh this season.
Behind Sandeep’s success is a story of hard work and quiet sacrifice. He began playing kabaddi in Class 7, training in the fields of his village with very few resources. His father, who drives an auto-rickshaw in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, supported his dream from the beginning — saving whatever he could to get Sandeep enrolled at Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna for professional training.
Sandeep first got noticed during a local kabaddi league in Madurai, where his performance caught the attention of selectors. That moment changed his life. He was picked by Patna Pirates in Season 11, and now, he’s heading to Mumbai with U Mumba.
